Air Travel Restarts at Scotland's Busiest Airport Following Substantial ATC System Failure

Passenger services have restarted at Scotland's primary international airport after a substantial air traffic control outage halted all operations.

All aircraft movements were halted after an IT issue that occurred at about 08:30.

Several flyers found themselves stranded in planes on the runway as the outage continued.

Operations Restart with Continued Disruption

Officials announced at 10:40 that operations had restarted, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "cooperation and patience".

However, considerable delays are anticipated to persist for some time. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been axed, with numerous other services facing hold-ups.

An airport representative had previously estimated that dozens of flights could be disrupted.

"Flyers are asked to check directly with their airline for the latest information on their individual travel plans," was the consistent advice.

Root of the Disruption

The problem was traced to the operational halt to an technical fault with its air traffic control provider.

Travelers continue to be advised to check the status of their flight before heading to the terminal as backlogs are worked through.
