A female charged with pursuing Kate McCann reportedly deposited her a recorded message which posed: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who a jury heard has persistently claimed she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial indicted with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February the current year.

Madeleine McCann's case has never been solved

On Monday, the tribunal heard communication data and data recovered from phones recorded Ms Wandelt consistently asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test over the past two years.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is considered the most publicized child disappearance cases and continues to be unresolved.

'I Don't Want Money'

Another recorded message, played in court, recorded Ms Wandelt stating: "I know I'm heavy and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I know what I believe."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail expressed: "Imagine there is a small chance that I am she? What happens next? Isn't that significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I have a existence here in Poland, I only wish to know," the recording stated.

The jury was advised that via emails, SMS messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt asked for a genetic test, transmitted childhood photos to her phone in a bid to show a likeness to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "recollections" from a early life with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who collated the information, told the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also contacted family friends of the McCanns, based on the communication logs.

On October 9th, 2024, the father responded to a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "a wrong number."

That day Ms Wandelt recorded a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone stating "I will continue and I will prove my point."

Court proceedings
Kate and Gerry McCann testified to the court from behind a protective barrier on Wednesday

The court heard the co-defendant developed a relationship through digital means with Ms Wandelt preceding assisting her on a visit to the McCanns' residence in the county in December 2024.

Communication data demonstrated Mrs Spragg had communicated via messaging service to Mrs McCann to state the news outlets had depicted Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she deserved to be treated respectfully in the time leading up to the visit to that location, that area, in last December.

The court learned message exchanges between the two individuals, in that autumn, planning endeavoring to acquire Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her garbage or from utensils at a restaurant.

"We have to make a stand," the co-defendant advised Ms Wandelt.

On the occasion of the appearance to their residence, the defendant sent a communication which expressed: "We are sitting adjacent to the McCanns' home with our lights out similar to private investigators. I desired to achieve this with Peter Andrew I never thought I would be doing that with the McCanns."

The proceedings continues.
