Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
