It has been confirmed that original actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

The actors are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. Speculation suggests their appearance will likely occur in a flash-forward sequence, considering the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.

Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.
