Manchester United Head Coach Amorim Confesses He Cannot Run From Underwhelming Record
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim endures the pressure during the three-one loss at opponents
Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim admits he is unable to hide from his troubling statistics and says it is understandable that Old Trafford former stars are commenting on him.
Recently, the club's all-time goalscorer Wayne Rooney mentioned during his program that "the heart has disappeared" from his former team.
The Portuguese manager has secured just 18 wins from his 49 games in control, featuring 9 out of thirty-three in the English top flight, where he has yet to record two successive victories.
Despite the fact that senior Old Trafford insiders are adamant that the club owner continues to be behind Amorim, an inability to beat newly promoted their next opponents on Saturday will trigger fresh speculation about his future heading into the upcoming fortnight pause in domestic football.
"It is expected," commented the Portugal-born coach, when questioned about the former striker's remarks. "You can't run away from the performance."
"Then you have the history from the previous campaign, [although] that period for me doesn't matter."
Supporter Reaction and Present Circumstances
United's supporters remained behind Amorim following the previous campaign's disappointing performance, when they finished 15th in the table - their lowest finish since the 1973-74 demotion season - and were beaten in the European final, in the belief that the current campaign would be substantially improved.
The manager promised fans the position would improve because he had greater opportunity to work with his team without the midweek distraction of European football.
That is not been how the first six games have materialised as Manchester United have suffered three defeats already and find themselves fourteenth in the standings.
Coach's Reaction to Questions
When asked what assurances he could provide followers that the position will get better, the manager continued: "This is not the moment to speak, it is the time to show."
"Personally review the games in the current campaign and, for me, they are entirely different, but I have nothing to comment at present."
- Manchester United currently occupy the fourteenth place in the Premier League
- Amorim has secured just eighteen of his 49 matches in charge
- Wayne Rooney recently questioned the club's present direction
