The Opening Xbox Game Pass Additions of 2026 Show Xbox Isn't Giving Up Yet.

In numerous discussions, fans keep sounding the knell for Microsoft's gaming division. The platform was lately surpassed in sales by a relatively obscure console. Dedicated Xbox communities have started writing about PlayStation as a new development. Last year proved to be complete chaos for Xbox and Microsoft. Yet, based exclusively on the titles headed to the service in 2026, it becomes clear that Xbox continues to plan to draw people in with strong games on its flagship service.

The Current Inclusions

The two games that are immediately available today, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, aren't the showstoppers. The true anticipation is for the upcoming titles to Game Pass over the next few weeks that's worth getting excited about.

Upcoming Headline Games

On Jan. 13, Game Pass will add the underappreciated Star Wars Outlaws, a vast exploration title that deviates from typical Ubisoft design with a space-faring criminal escapade. Another big get is Resident Evil Village with its iconic tall vampire, which our 2021 review called "an ideal blend of frights and fights."

Noteworthy Smaller Games

But even the smaller games coming to Game Pass soon deserve recognition. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, a fantastic but under-the-radar dungeon crawler that's a blast to play, arrives January 7th — and it merits a playthrough whether or not you experienced the first Lost in Random game.

The British post-apocalyptic game from last year could captivate you in about 15 minutes flat.

Atomfall, a survival title with stealth elements by the developers behind Sniper Elite, is also a game to check out. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to anticipate.

A Solid, Curated Lineup

All in all, these aren't the most groundbreaking additions to Game Pass, and they are also not tentpole Microsoft studios games that are the sole reason for the service in the first place. However, this batch of games are very dependable. The lineup provides a solid mix of old games you might have missed and fairly new titles that didn't get the attention they warranted upon launch — transforming them into perfect candidates to experience a revival on Game Pass.

Hope you're ready to part ways with The Grinch Christmas Adventures, however.
