The Simpsons Makes Its Debut in Rocket League: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle You're Hoping For

It was previously announced that the iconic animated series was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole destination where fans can experience the universe of Springfield. The beloved show is also making its way to Rocket League, introducing an in-game car skin that will also be usable in the Fortnite universe. That said, whether players will actually want to equip it is another question, as there's only one Simpsons car everyone is itching to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

While many gamers would absolutely enjoy to face off while driving The Homer—the famously flawed car the patriarch designed personally in the classic installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what's being offered. We aren't even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in the tenth season. Instead, fans will obtain the family's everyday well-worn sedan, which has been in the family since the show's early days. Even though this specific vehicle has seen better days, it stands as an recognizable symbol of the show. And for players who analyze Rocket League car hitboxes, the Simpson family car shares the same hitbox as the Dominus.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

And it's not the only cosmetic from the series arriving in Rocket League. This limited-time event will additionally feature a series of objectives to unlock additional goodies, all of which are inspired by the show. According to a press release, the challenges will task participants to "get as many centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, gather boost canisters as if your GPS is set to the Simpson house, and drive a distance sufficient for picking up the perfect donuts!"

Although the full lineup of earnable items isn't yet disclosed, here is what's been announced so far:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

If the key art is a reliable guide, it seems players will also receive wheels with a TV displaying The Simpsons' title sequence, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Event Timing and Fortnite Connection

This event lines up with the extensive The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite's island, which includes a brand-new playable area of the fictional town, in addition to a month-long Battle Pass. The Rocket League x The Simpsons celebration launches on November 1st and concludes on Nov. 17.
