The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Debuts, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices

Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.

The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Beloved Titles

Similar to the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands

The feature will feature once again of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive close to the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his allies.

Nintendo has three new games already confirmed for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
